The NEW Rising Star award celebrates emerging talent who are shaping the future of Australia’s web industry through exceptional work, innovative thinking, and meaningful contributions to our professional community.

Eligibility

Eligibility

To be eligible to enter, applicants must:
  • Have 5 years or less professional experience in the web industry (as of 8th February 2026)
  • Be working in one of the key digital disciplines. E.g. Accessibility, Content, Design, Development, User Experience, SEO or client service / project management.
  • Be working in or significantly contributing to the Australian web industry

What we’re looking for

This award recognises individuals who are not only producing outstanding work but actively contributing to the growth and evolution of our industry. We’re seeking people who are pushing boundaries, championing better practices, sharing knowledge, and helping to build a more inclusive and innovative web community.

Your submission should include:

Section one: Professional achievements and industry impact (500 words or less – 40%)
Provide a detailed account of the nominee’s key achievements and contributions over the past 12 months, including:

  • Notable projects or work that demonstrates exceptional skill and innovation
  • How their work has pushed boundaries or set new standards
  • Contributions to the broader industry (e.g., mentoring, speaking, writing, open-source work, community involvement)
  • Evidence of their impact on teams, clients, or the wider web community
  • Any recognition, awards, or measurable outcomes from their work

Please include links to projects, case studies, or supporting documentation that showcase the nominee’s work and contributions.

Section two: Vision and future contribution (500 words or less – 40%)
Explain the nominee’s vision for their career and their potential to shape the future of the web industry, addressing:

  • Their ambitions and goals within the industry
  • How they plan to address challenges facing the web industry or society through their work
  • Their commitment to fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and forward-thinking industry
  • Plans or actions towards elevating others and contributing to the next generation of web professionals
  • What makes them someone to watch in the years ahead

Section three: Professional reference (300 words or less – 20%)
Include at least one written reference from a client, colleague, or community member that speaks to:

  • The nominee’s character, work ethic, and professional capabilities
  • Specific examples of their impact and contributions
  • Why they believe this person represents the future of the Australian web industry
