Defiant Lives tells the story of the rise and fight of the disability rights movement in the United States, Britain and Australia. This triumphant film full of extraordinary characters who put their lives on the line to create a better and very different world where everyone regardless of impairment is valued and can participate. In terms of written and visual content, it was important that messaging reflected the strong, upbeat, edgy and bold personality and purpose of the film makers, and their community. Users are able to watch the movie trailer, view cinemas see upcoming cinema screenings and book tickets. Furthermore, through the demand.film application programming interface, ambassadors for the film, and influencers within this community are able to request and host their own cinema or community screenings. The written content displays the value and appeal of the film, revealing just enough of this incredible story to intrigue the website visitor to want to see the film. The content supports the audience experience both prior to viewing the film, as well as inspiring and enabling the visitor to find or host a screening. Post-viewing, the content is still relevant and continues to enrich the viewing experience and also to help community members to stay informed and connected through the newsletter sign up, and to link in with other disability film makers, bloggers and activists through the Disability Busters register. As the promotional website for a film about equal rights for people of disability, Accessibility had to be a key consideration.
