Diversity Council Australia

Diversity Council Australia is an independent, not-for-profit peak body that helps Australian businesses successfully implement workplace diversity strategies. DCA%26%238217%3Bs existing website was built using a proprietary platform that no longer met their needs, with a dated design that didn%26%238217%3Bt reflect the caliber of their corporate members. They engaged Weave to design and build a site that would better promote the organisation and serve members. The main audience for the site is members of DCA, who use its extensive resources to plan diversity initiatives. For example, if you are a diversity and inclusion manager for a large corporation implementing a flexible working hours policy, the DCA website is your best friend. Weave began the project with a detailed user research process. We discovered that members appreciated the existing content, but had needs that could be met more effectively, especially around exploring content by topic. We also identified a major gap in content promoting the organisation to potential members, explaining the benefits of membership and encouraging them to join. The website we created is first and foremost a vehicle for the organisation%26%238217%3Bs valuable content, with clear, readable layout, intuitive navigation, and smart use of taxonomy to enable users to explore content by topic. The site contains both public and member-only content, with a clear explanation and calls to action whenever a logged-out user reaches an area with member content. The design of the site makes creative use of the organisation%26%238217%3Bs brand. It rightly treats content as the hero of the site, but judiciously uses colour and illustration to provide visual interest in key places, such as the Why join%26%238221%3B page %28https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dca.org.au%2Fmembership%2Fwhy-join%29, which unlike the rest of the site is designed to encourage a specific action.
